HADEA has a long-standing history of delivering high-impact, community-led projects that address health, wellbeing, inclusion, and economic hardship. Here’s a look at some of the initiatives we’ve proudly delivered in recent years:

1. Black Health Matters in Ealing

This bold and empowering project brought together marginalised Black communities in Ealing and key local health providers to address racial disparities in health access and outcomes.

Through a series of community events, we tackled sensitive but vital topics that included:

  • Challenges When Accessing Health and Social Care Services
  • Hardly Hard to Reach: Promoting Cultural Competence
  • Black Men and Mental Health
  • FGM: Perspectives from the Somali and West African Communities

These events provided a platform for sharing lived experiences, influencing service delivery, and promoting culturally competent care that respects and reflects community needs.

2. Cost of Living Intervention Project (COLIP)

In response to the worsening cost-of-living crisis, HADEA launched the COLIP project to support disadvantaged Ealing residents dealing with food insecurity, financial pressure, and rising energy bills.

  • Training & Prevention:
We delivered three training sessions attended by 46 residents, covering:
  • Accessing cost-of-living support and emergency grants
  • Shopping on a budget
  • Budgeting and money management
  • Multi-lingual Advice & Advocacy:
A total of 73 residents accessed our multi-lingual advice and guidance service, receiving tailored support on complex issues such as benefits, rent arrears, and utility debts. Many clients faced multiple, overlapping challenges and benefited from our holistic approach to care.

3. Covid-19 Community Support Initiative

At the height of the pandemic, HADEA stepped up to provide urgent, lifesaving support to over 1,000 vulnerable residents across Ealing. We:

  • Delivered culturally appropriate food parcels and essential supplies
  • Shared accurate health advice in multiple languages
  • Offered digital and emotional support to those isolated or shielding
  • Advocated for those struggling to access healthcare and welfare

Our response was rooted in community trust, compassion, and cultural understanding.

4. SEND Inclusive Swimming Programme

HADEA launched a bespoke swimming programme to support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to gain confidence and key life skills through water-based learning.

The project:

  • Encouraged physical activity and sensory development
  • Boosted self-esteem and joy among children who are often excluded from mainstream activities
  • Provided respite and connection for families

5. Women’s Enterprise & Empowerment Project

This project supported marginalised women—including refugees and those from low-income households—to explore entrepreneurship and self-employment as a route to independence.

We helped participants:

  • Develop and refine business ideas
  • Understand how to set up and manage micro-businesses
  • Build confidence and skills in a safe, empowering environment
